There are plenty of chat and message apps available for communicating with others. Perhaps you’re looking for something different to use aside from the mainstream apps like WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger.
Included in the list below are apps which enable you to have group conversations.
Snapchat is an app available for iPhone and Android where you can send pictures and messages to your friends. It allows you to add funny filters to your pictures to brighten up conversations. The recent addition of ‘SnapMaps’ also allows you to see where your friends are and what is going on in the area. On the ‘Stories’ page you can see live stories, your favourite celebrities’ stories and keep up to date with any gossip and news.
Blackberry Messaging (BBM) was originally only available for those with Blackberry phones, however in 2013 it was released for iPhone and Android. BBM is great for messaging and calling your friends. You can also see where your friends are and how far they are from you. BBM enables you to easily set up group messages to plan get-togethers.
Houseparty is a fun app available for both iPhone and Android which allows you to video chat in a group with all your friends. When doing this you have the option to play games like ‘heads up’ and ‘two truths one lie’. In opening the app it notifies all your friends that you are ‘in the house’ and ready to talk to them. Houseparty also notifies you whenever any of your friends are ‘in the house’.
Hangouts is an app designed to video call, voice call and message your friends and family either one to one or in a group chat. You can have up to 150 people in a group chat! Ideal for organising events e.g. large parties! You can also contact friends when they’re offline.
