The new Apple iPhone 7 and 7 Plus – including what to do with your old iPhone
Apple released the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus in the UK today and without surprise they have already sold out!
The poor weather didn’t put off Apple fanatics who couldn’t wait to get their hands on the latest iPhone, some spent hours queuing outside Apple stores. If you’re considering purchasing one be prepared and patient as there’s approximately a 2-3 week wait time on the Apple website, with an even longer delay for the new Jet Black version.
The iPhone 7 and bigger model 7 Plus are water-resistant for the first time and also available in black and jet black finish. Other features include a redesigned 12MP camera, stereo speakers, improved battery life and brighter display.
Alongside the release of the new iPhones a new version of the Apple Watch (called the Series 2) has also gone on sale today. Apple caused wide controversy when they revealed that the iPhone 7 would no longer have a headphone jack, instead asking customers to use wireless headsets or to connect headphones via the Lightning connector.

Are you left wondering what to do with your old iPhone?
Here’s some useful tips below:
Sell it for cash / Trade it in – Although this is probably the most obvious and common thought, don’t add it on your to-do list and leave it sitting in a drawer for months on end as its value will decrease over time. With Christmas approaching it’s probably the best time to sell!
Alarm clock – Download a clock app of your choice and you’re ready to go! Set the iPhone up next to your bed and you’ll never lose track of time again. No more excuses to be late in the mornings!
Portable speaker – If you spend most of your free time outdoors or in your garden why not take advantage of your old iPhone by using it as a speaker? Download your fave music so you’re all set to go when you want to blast those beats!
Secret recording device – If spy gadgets and gizmos fascinate you why not convert your old iPhone into a secret recording device? Firstly ensure it’s charged up and well hidden, then set your trap and press record whenever you’re ready. *There’s no guarantees what gossip you may hear but don’t say we didn’t warn you about this being a risky choice!
Photo frame – Find your favourite spot at home and set your old iPhone up with your best photos. It’s a good idea to invest in a stand for your phone so you can ensure it’s in a visible position to see those great memories!
Cat toy – If you read our blog about “Top Apps for Cats” then you’ll already be familiar with this. Cats love playing games just as much as some of us, so why not let them get involved with technology and the online world!
Paperweight – Take advantage by having one of the world’s most expensive paperweights! Keep your old phone somewhere visible on your desk so it’s always at arm’s reach for those needed occasions.
