Apple sales are down and the release of the new iPhone is rumoured

Shares in Apple declined this week, for the first time since 2003 after Apple reported a nearly 13% drop in quarterly sales.
So what’s changed since 2003?

  • The Apple iPhone did not exist
  • Apple were selling Power Mac computers

In 2003 iTunes was launched by Apple transforming the music business.
The first iPhone was released in 2007 and following on from this was the iPad, both of which sold worldwide in their hundreds of millions! This rocketed Apple’s sales to much higher levels.
Regardless of the recently reported decrease, Tim Cook, CEO of Apple, has promised the company has some “amazing innovations” lined up.
One of which should be the iPhone 7, which is rumoured to have a newly designed headphone port, be water-resistant and dust-proof, and might also have a completely revamped home button.
Last year Apple sold $58bn of gadgets in the first quarter of the year. Two-thirds of that revenue came from iPhones and sales were driven by the new iPhone 6.
Some forecasters believe that the success of the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus is to blame for the sales reverse. Both models sold 4 million in their first 24 hours. In September 2015 the launch of the iPhone 6S was also a big hit with its consumers.
Is the Apple iPhone SE too small?
Some believe the iPhone SE is basically like removing the interiors from the 6S and cramming them into the body of the 5S.
You might think it’s strange that Apple has released a phone based on a design from four years ago, however if you’re looking for a phone that easily slips into your pocket then the iPhone SE may be ideal for you.
Here are some of the benefits:

  • More affordable
  • Compact
  • Contains some of the same elements as the larger 6S and 6S Plus
  • Great camera
  • Exceptional performance
  • Good battery life

Most look up to Apple as the guru of invention and technology, but revolution is now evidencing difficult. One thing which Apple are great at doing is keeping us on our toes waiting to hear the release for the next iPhone.
If your phone contract has just expired or is coming up for renewal in the next few months it may be worth holding onto your current phone until the release of the new iPhone. We’re excited to see the new features and design.
