Should You Get a Mac or PC?

Both Macs and PCs are powerful machines and provide similar functionality. Either one should be able to adequately meet your needs. That being said, both are certainly geared towards different audiences.

Here’s what consider:

Mac:

1. Macs Are Easy to Use

Hate having to deal with constant program crashes and endless driver issues? Just want to access your e-mail or a word processor and don’t want to have to deal with the problems of a computer? Want your computer to “just work”? This is exactly what Macs were designed for. If you’re a casual computer user, a Mac will take all the difficulties out of computing and provide you with a seamless experience.

 2. Less Viruses

While it’s not true that Macs get no viruses at all, it is a fact that the chance of your Mac getting infected is significantly less than an equivalent PC. A Mac running no security software is significantly safer than a PC running an antivirus. The peace of mind from not having to worry about viruses, trojans, and spyware yields a significantly more pleasant computing experience.

 3. Street Cred

No doubt, Macs are in style. If you’re into keeping up-to-date on the latest trends, Macs are certainly right up your alley. You’ll never have to worry about being embarrassed about that giant, clunky old thing. Not to mention, Macs are just stunning and perfectly crafted. They’re like a work of art.

4. Awesome Customer Service

If you do encounter a problem, you certainly won’t have to cringe at the thought of being help up for hours by automated phone lines our outsourced tech support. You can pop on by the Genius Bar, which should be able to resolve your issue quickly. Or, if you’d prefer phone support, Apple’s phone service is ranked among the best in the nation.

Bottom Line:

If you aren’t too demanding in terms of power and desire top-notch support, worry-free browsing, and an overall smooth experience, get a Mac.

PC:

1. Built for Gaming

If you’re a hardcore gamer, a PC is certainly the right choice for you. While you can game on a Mac, PCs have a much larger selection of titles and Mac versions of new releases are generally delayed. For gamers, PC is hands down the better option.

 2. Less expensive

For the same components, a PC costs significantly less than an equally priced Mac. For the budget conscious, PC seems to be a more appropriate choice. You can pick up a capable PC for around £400, while Macs are priced £999 and up. This is also a benefit for gamers and power users, as you can get a significantly more powerful machine at a lower price.

 3. More Choices

With a Mac, you have around 10 different models to choose from. With a PC, however, you have THOUSANDS of different options, which makes it much more likely that you will find a computer that meets all your requirements.

4. Customisation

Macs are not built to be customised. If you don’t buy it initially, you will never have it unless you buy a new computer. You can’t even open the case unless you buy a special screwdriver. PCs, on the other hand, are meant to be upgraded and customised. You can add RAM, swap the hard drive, and upgrade the GPU on desktops and some laptops. Not to mention the seemingly endless variety of third-party additions and peripherals. The possibilities are endless.

Bottom Line:

If you’re a gamer, a power user, budget-conscious, or all three, a PC should certainly be your first choice.
