AVG – Free vs Paid

You may want to consider choosing AVG  as your antivirus software if you don’t use it already – it provides real-time protection and scans emails, programmes, files and drives, so your entire system is covered.

AVG is free for home users, but the features are limited compared to the paid version. The free version provides basic antivirus protection, scans web and social media links and securely deletes files from the system.

It does not, however, scan files or emails that have been downloaded from the internet, and we all know how sneaky malware can be. It doesn’t prevent spam, and it has no firewall protection, so you may still be susceptible to threats.

We get a lot of customers coming in with machines riddled with viruses and other malware. They have antivirus protection, like Norton or McAfee, but it isn’t effective against all threats. We strongly recommend AVG over these. We offer our customers AVG and can supply and install it onto their machines at Nexus HQ!
