5 Free iPhone Business Apps You Don’t Want to Be Without

Running a business is a difficult process, and keeping on top of everything can often be a struggle. Technological advancement over the years has meant that it’s now far easier to keep yourself organised and use your time effectively, especially with the emergence of mobile phone apps.

iPhone users now find it easier than ever to keep their businesses in check. The Apple App Store features over 700,000 apps and has accumulated more than 30 billion downloads. With so many apps out there, it’s difficult to decide which ones are best for you. We’ve picked out 5 of our favourite free iPhone business apps so you don’t have to.

1) Expensify

Expensify

This app allows you to keep track of any and all expenses you accumulate while out on business.  It boasts the tagline “Expense reports that don’t suck!”, and is an extremely useful app for busy people looking for a quick and easy way to record their monetary transactions. In order to fully utilise the app, you have to visit the Expensify website and sign up, but this only takes a few minutes of your time.

Not only can you record your expenses, you can also use their SmartScan technology to upload receipts straight to your phone. Simply take a photograph of the receipt and upload it directly to the app – it does the rest of the work for you, recording the merchant’s name and the amount of money you spend. The free app only allows you to use SmartScan 10 times, after which you have to pay 20¢ (around 12p) per SmartScan.

Although the app is American and is defaulted to use US Dollars, it’s easy to change the currency settings to British Pounds (or whichever currency you happen to use).

The Time setting allows you to record the amount of money generated from the number of hours that you’ve worked, which is extremely handy and saves you from having to look for a calculator. You can also record your mileage and how much petrol you’ve consumed.

The app as a whole is easy to use and extremely handy to have. It can be quite tedious interchanging between the Expensify website and your mobile app, but it’s a fantastic way to record your expenses while you’re on the go.

2) Evernote

Evernote

Have you ever had a great new business idea on the go, only to forget it by the time you’re back at the office? With Evernote, this needn’t be a problem. The app allows you to make notes and recordings, take photographs and organise your workings into your very own notebook. It’s easy to get the hang of and is an invaluable app to have.

3) Dropbox

Dropbox

Dropbox allows you to access files from your computer anywhere you go. Simply create an account and download Dropbox to your computer. It essentially acts as a folder to store any files you’ll want to access. Once your files have transferred, you can access them easily through the iPhone app and any other device with Dropbox installed. It’s as simple as that.

4) LinkedIn

LinkedIn

LinkedIn is an essential social networking platform for professionals. Not only does it showcase your skills as a businessperson, it also allows you to connect with other like-minded professionals, broadening your networks and, in turn, your business’ potential. With over 175 million members in over 200 countries and territories, the networking opportunities are endless. Utilising the app on your mobile means you can keep up to date with your connections’ latest activities, giving you the opportunity to interact with them. You can also update your status, check your messages and join group discussions. This app is ideal for networking on the go.
