The Battle of the Apps
It has been reported that, on Thursday, Google Play now contains 700,000 Android Apps, matching the number offered by Apple’s App Store. Last month, Google Play, previously known as Android Market, boasted 675,000 apps, but has now bumped up the number. Last week Apple announced that their App Store also contains 700,000 Apps – do you think this is a coincidence?
In this highly competitive mobile market, it’s Microsoft that seems to be lagging behind. The Windows Phone App Store offers just 120,000 apps. Perhaps with the latest Windows 8 Operating System and the Apollo (also known as Windows Phone 8), they will continue to develop new apps for their store, to compete with app-giants Apple and Google.
What do you think? Are apps important to you? Does the number of apps offered by the store affect your decision to buy? Let us know in the comments!
