HMV Goes Into Administration
Music retail giant HMV has gone into administration, ending its 92-year reign on the high street. It follows photo retailer Jessops and electrical supplier Comet, who closed their stores before Christmas.
As online sales continue to rise, with the likes of Amazon, iTunes and various pirating platforms dominating conventional shopping methods, it was only a matter of time before high-street stores began to suffer. This pushes us further and further into a more digitized world, with UK consumers spending more than £1bn on downloaded films, music and games in 2012.
Do you still buy physical copies of music, games and movies? Will the downfall of HMV affect you? Let us know in the comments!
