25 useful PC keyboard shortcuts to save you time

Knowing handy keyboard shortcuts is extremely useful and it enables you to be more efficient as you’re saving time! Listed below are 25 PC shortcuts you should start using if you’re not already. Print out this list and pop it by your desk. You’ll know them off by heart in no time at all!

Essential everyday:

1. Ctrl + C = Copy
2. Ctrl + X = Cut
3. Ctrl + V = Paste
4. Ctrl + A = Select all text
5. Ctrl + Z = Undo an action
6. Ctrl + Y = Redo an action
7. Ctrl + P = To print
8. Ctrl + S = To save
9. Tab key = Cursor jumps to the next line or field

Changing the style of text:

10. Ctrl + B = Bolds selected text
11. Ctrl + I = Changes selected text to italics
12. Ctrl + U = Underlines selected text

Everything else:

13. Ctrl + Alt + Delete = Brings up the options to: lock/ switch user/ sign out/ task manager
14. Ctrl + Esc = Brings up the Start menu
15. Ctrl + Shift + Esc = Opens Task Manager
16. Alt + F4 = Shuts the current program you have open
17. Win + L = Locks your PC or switches user
18. Alt + Enter = Opens the Properties for the selected item (file, folder, shortcut, etc.)
19. Windows key + -/+ = Zooms in or out using Magnifier
20. Alt + Tab = Switches between running applications
21. Ctrl + Home = Takes you to the beginning of document
22. Ctrl + End = Takes you to the end of document
23. Ctrl + F = Quickly searches the current page or document for a word or phrase you’re looking for. A “search” or “find” feature will appear – simply begin typing what you’re looking for
24. Ctrl + N = Creates a new document
25. Ctrl + Shift + N = Creates a new folder
