Malware: Computers infected with malware can run a lot slower than usual. Run a full antivirus scan on your computer. At Nexus, we recommend using AVG Virus and Malware Protection, and we’d be happy to install it onto your machine for you.
Start-up Programs: Open up your Task Manager and see if there are programs running in the background that you aren’t using.
Go to Programs and Features in the Control Panel and uninstall any software that you don’t use.
Overheating: Excessive heat can affect a computer’s performance – make sure that your machine isn’t overheating. Never obstruct the fans, and be sure to clean them regularly to make sure that there is no dust/dirt build-up.
Hard drive space: Check that your hard drive isn’t full. If it is, try to free up some space by deleting any unnecessary files or programs.
